How to Download Hackboot 1 and Install Mac OS X on Windows
If you want to try Mac OS X on your Windows PC, you will need a virtualization tool like VirtualBox and a hacked version of the OS X installer. You will also need Hackboot 1, a special boot CD that will allow you to boot into the OS X installation. In this article, we will show you how to download Hackboot 1 and use it to install Mac OS X on Windows.
Step 1: Download Hackboot 1
Hackboot 1 is an ISO file that you can burn to a CD or mount as a virtual drive. It contains a modified version of the Chameleon bootloader that can boot OS X on non-Apple hardware. You can find Hackboot 1 by searching Google for \"Hackboot 1 download\". The first result should be a website called \"DOWNLOAD HACKBOOT + OSX - Download Below\" [^1^]. Click on the link and download the file named \"hackboot_1.iso\".
Step 2: Download Mac OS X Mountain Lion
Since VirtualBox does not officially support OS X, you will need a hacked version of the Mountain Lion installer that can run on any PC. The hacking group Olarila has put together a compatible ISO file that you can find by searching Google for \"Olarila Mountain Lion ISO\". The first result should be a forum post with a download link [^2^]. Click on the link and download the file named \"ML_10.8_Olarila.iso\". Alternatively, you can buy a legit copy of Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store and create your own ISO file.
Step 3: Create a Virtual Machine for Mac OS X
Open VirtualBox and click on the \"New\" button to create a new virtual machine. Name it \"Mac OS X\" and choose \"Mac OS X\" as the operating system and \"Mac OS X (64-bit)\" as the version. Assign at least 2GB of RAM and 20GB of hard disk space to the virtual machine. Choose \"Create a virtual hard disk now\" and click on \"Create\". Choose \"VDI (VirtualBox Disk Image)\" as the hard disk file type and click on \"Next\". Choose \"Dynamically allocated\" as the storage on physical hard disk and click on \"Next\". Click on \"Create\" again to finish creating the virtual machine.
Step 4: Configure the Virtual Machine for Mac OS X
Select the virtual machine you just created and click on the \"Settings\" button. Go to the \"System\" section and uncheck \"Enable EFI (special OSes only)\" under the \"Motherboard\" tab. Go to the \"Processor\" tab and check \"Enable PAE/NX\". Go to the \"Display\" section and increase the video memory to 128MB. Go to the \"Storage\" section and click on the empty CD icon under the \"Controller: IDE\" controller. Click on the CD icon next to \"Optical Drive\" and choose \"Choose a Virtual CD/DVD Disk File\". Browse to the location where you downloaded Hackboot 1 and select it. Click on OK to save the settings.
Step 5: Boot into Hackboot 1
Start the virtual machine and wait for it to boot into Hackboot 1. You should see a black screen with a white Apple logo and some text. Press F5 to refresh the bootloader and then press any key to enter boot options. Type \"-v\" (without quotes) and press Enter to boot into verbose mode. This will show you what is happening behind the scenes as OS X boots up.
Step 6: Swap Hackboot 1 with Mountain Lion
Once you see a gray screen with a spinning wheel, press F5 again to refresh the bootloader. This time, press F8 to enter boot options again. Type \"-v cpus=1 busratio=20\" (without quotes) and press Enter. This will tell OS X to use only one CPU core and set the bus ratio correctly for your processor. Quickly swap Hackboot 1 with Mountain Lion by clicking on Devices > Optical Drives > Choose/Create a Disk Image in VirtualBox menu 248dff8e21
